Before you start decorating your home it is good to sit down and take a moment to think about your home. While thinking try to find answers to the following 8 questions.
What do you want your place to ber? A social gathering place for which you would need plenty of seating or maybe a tranquil oasis for relaxation and privacy?
What are your hobbies and what do you need for them? For example if you have a collection or a puzzle that you often work on, it might be a good idea to make sure you have special storage containers at reach. That way it won’t be a hassle getting them in and out and you won’t have to leave them out at risk of losing or breaking.
What about your things? You need storage for everything. Otherwise things get messy. Put a small filing cabinet to store all your papers or things you don’t know what to do with.
How many peope will live in your home? What are their ages? It is always a good idea for everyone to have their space whether it’s a rocking chair, the couch, desk or even their own room. Everyone needs space and privacy.
How much furniture do you really need? This is a very important question to to answer because if you put too much, the place will look messy and overcrowded. Think about the bare essentials, couch, chair, table, dining table, bed and wardrobe. After that start thinking about what you need and what you don’t need. Will you really use a computer desk for example? Do you even own a desktop computer?
How important is having free space to move freely about? Make a sketch or layout your furniture on a piece of paper first so you can effectively and efficiently use the space before making the purchase of furniture.
What is the first thing you want to see when you walk in? If you are a light fanatic, get big windows with great lighting and give your home brightness.
What about order and organization? What do you bring home with you every day? A large bowl or box near the front entrance is a great place to drop things until you go through it later whether it’s your work, mail or maybe even sports equipment that you want at fast reach.
